de-interlace/de-comb

hi
the nightlies i have used no longer have an option to disable de-interlace. instead we have [maybe had [not used latest nightlies]] deinterlace & decomb. i did as much research as possible and as far as i could tell decomb is a smart "off".
is choosing de-comb essentially the off button to both decomb & deinterlace unless it is "smartly" needed?
