Hello there!
So I just picked up a new MoBo and an i7 is in the haus!
For right now, I think I'll just set it up with Ubuntu, but I'm not too familiar with using that flavor of *nix, and most of my tools are for Windows.
So I'm wondering if I should stick with W7 and switch to 64bit, or switch from W7 to W8 64bit?
I would just go with 8, but seeing some threads where W8 seems to be a common denominator has me wondering how happy Handbrake is with W8. I was also wondering if all the CPU features would be supported in 7?
Oh, and any recommendations for reading and writing to NTFS volumes from Ubuntu?

Can't help with your windows inquiries, but for ntfs under linux...
There should be a package for ntfs-3g.
Code: Select all
apt-cache search ntfs

Well, from my benchmarking test, 64bit is certainly worth it.
With all the hassles I've had in the last few days dealing with Ubuntu, I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get W8?

With the nightmare that Ubuntu has been for me for the last week, and with the i7 it's only 4% faster than Win7, so until I can get Ubuntu ironed out, I'll be happy with Win7 Pro 64.
