When I re-encode an MKV to a smaller size, the result is much lighter/paler/with less contrast than the original but other than that it's very nice. But I can't understand which setting that can affect this. These are my advanced settings:
ref=5:bframes=5:subq=6:mixed-refs=0:weightb=0:8x8dct=0:trellis=2
(I had planned to put a screenshot here but you seem to have disabled uploading of images, hope you can read the command line syntax.)
Thanks
David

Re: Too light
Wrong forum, and no activity log
Re: Too light
I can't see any better subforum, the other ones are divided into windows and Mac for some reason and this is not a specific win/mac question.
Any how on earth would an "activity log" help anyone here? I'm not in the tech support forum. It's a question about settings.
Thanks for the helpfulness........

Re: Too light
The activity log shows us *all* the settings you used in your encode and *all* the particulars about your source video that might be helpful in resolving your problem. This *is* a support request, therefor it belongs in a support forum.
