How do you update the Apple TVs library?

It seems I can manually update the AppleTV if I quit iTunes & start it back up.

But does anyone know how to do so, other than that?
Does anyone even know how often the ATV updates it's information from iTunes?
I can't seem to figure it out haha.

um, click on the appleTV on the left in Devices, then click on the "Sync" button.

Moving to Tiki Bar as it has nothing to do with HandBrake.

Why they haven't fixed this yet is beyond me... it really should poll for updates automatically (or receive notification from iTunes that an update is available and grab the changes).

Yeah, I'm doing testing seeing how often it automatically syncs.
And it seems iTunes tells it to sync when something new is added to iTunes
or when iTunes starts.

Still checking on the specifics.
But changing any info on a file doesn't sync back to the ATV.
At least not within a couple hours.
Eventually it changes so I'm guessing there's some type of interval
where the iTunes syncs everything over.

I was hoping there would be some type of AppleScript dictionary command that would let me update it.
But I guess I'll have to do som GUI scripting instead. ;P

one other note. if you have an encode already synced. then say you change something in the get info window (ie. name, etc.). even a manual sync like I describe above will not update the atv. However, if you actually play the source item in itunes, even for a second. Then hit "Sync", the atv is updated with whatever you changed. Strange but true.
