Test video file?

Post by Dysthymia » Tue Aug 01, 2017 12:54 pm

Is there a high quality, non-copyrighted video file anyone would recommend using for evaluating different Handbrake settings?

A few seconds of UHQ grainy video, a few seconds with smoke or steam passing in front of someone's face, several seconds of fast action, etc?

Big Buck Bunny gets a lot of mention for testing.

Is there a particular short section of it you'd recommend with a good mix of characteristics?

I have not watched it in native resolution, but it looks like it would have "blown fur" (which would be a lot like "grain"), high movement scenes, etc., distributed through out it. And it starts with a high-contrast section, with the wake-up sequence.

When I was doing a test for high-motion/high detail, I used the Dalek attack on Gallifrey from "Day of the Doctor", but that does not qualify as "non-copyrighted".

Pretty much sounds like Aliens, Saving Private Ryan or The Hurt Locker.

Tears Of Steel. Fine grain, mix of live action and CGI.

Anything by Blender Foundation is good.
