You're probably using a text box widget, and clicking moves the cursor.
fixed
pcordes wrote: Ideally, you could set the textbox widget to not scroll on output, and to not have a moveable cursor.
What I really wanted was for it to auto-scroll only when the scrollbar is at the bottom. but i haven't found a convenient way
to tell when the scrollbar is at the bottom. so i've disabled the auto-scroll for now.

another bug:
deinterlace:slowest works fine on the first encode after starting ghb. On subsequent encodes, the bottom few lines of the output video are green and flickering (with none of the original picture beneath that).

There shouldn't even be a "slowest" deinterlacing offered to the user in the GUIs right now:

pcordes, do you mean the "slower" setting, because there is no slowest. If so, I haven't been able to reproduce what your seeing. An activity log would help out a lot.

Yeah there is a known problem with yadif (slow / slower deinterlacing) occasionally producing a flickering line. I don't think the yadif code is being careful enough about not reading past plane boundaries.

BTW, I was wrong: the flickery line at the bottom does sometimes contain the correct picture, as in the #2 screenshot.

This may be the wrong place to ask this question; if so my apologies. I was looking at the output and noticed if you enter something in the x264 settings text box it just gets stuck onto the end of the gui settings, so there are essentially two completely different sets of x264 settings. Is there anyway to just turn off those x264 gui settings and only use the text box input?

Also does anyone know which of the settings takes priority? For instance, if you tell it to do 'exhaustive analysis' in the gui, but one of the other kinds in the text box, which one will happen?

Incidentally this gui is great, I have been using the command line and it is really nice to have a way to save one's setting graphically. Thanks much.

x264 will use the last of the two options that are sent if they are identical, so the first would be cancelled out.

If that's how it works then it's buggy. It should work exactly like the MacGui panel. As options are added or removed from the box they should be enabled or disabled in the gui widgets, and vice versa.

Thanks, do you happen to know if the whole first set will be canceled in favor of the entire second set or if it will cancel them option by option?

Oh I didn't know that was not what it was supposed to be doing. I can upload the log file later to show you what exactly it looks like.

That's tough to say. I had been under the impression that panel was a work-alike of the Mac Gui's. But if it's not (and if it lets you have different motion estimation methods in the widgets and the text box it definitely isn't), then all bets are off. It will depend on which the GUI decides to give precedence to when crafting the string sent to the core lib. Whatver comes last for an option is the last set. So look at the activity log.

Option by option. So with the atv preset, if its passing

Code: Select all

bframes=3:ref=1:subq=5:me=umh:no-fast-pskip=1:cabac=0:bframes=0
in the activity log, then x264 would actually use bframes=0 .

So look at the activity log.
When I looked at the output string it looked as though the text box input was literally just being stuck onto the end of an already formed string. The activity log actually looked like it was generating a standard CLI type output string then tacking the text box input onto the very end of that string. I will go over it when I get home to be sure.

As jbrjake said, that is a bug then. Until its fixed, I guess you will just have to be conscious of it.

It's pretty consistently not happening on the first encode after starting ghb, and happening on subsequent encodes.

Maybe on the first time through it reads all zeros from outside the picture, so it comes out ok, or something?
