Support - Handbrake doesn't recognize DVD

Post by Rick_S »

Description of problem or question:
I have a DVD that I was trying to rip. Handbrake can't find any source.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Click on source
Click on the DVD
Handbrake accesses the DVD, but eventually stops, and no source file is selected.

I can watch the DVD with Celluloid or VLC on the same machine, and [Removed Dubious Product Reference] DVD Ripper (Trial) can rip the movie on Windows, so I know the disk itself is fine.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.3.3

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Linux Mint 20.1

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

HB is not a ripper and cannot access copy protected content.

Rip with a ripper then encode with HB.
