Can't get QSV working on Ubuntu 20.04

Post by Hios »

Description of problem or question:
Cannot get HandBrake to enable qsv encoders on Ubuntu Server 20.04. I have both the HandBrake and QuickSync plugin flatpaks installed. It's a Kaby Lake processor and this machine is my Plex server. Plex recognizes and uses the QSV ability. I'm guessing it's tied to the "Cannot load libnvidia-encode.so.1" line in the activity log.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Install both flatpaks, restart server, open HandBrake and don't see qsv encoders in the list of options.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.3.3 (x86_64)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Ubuntu Server 20.04.2 LTS

Hello ,

i ' ve tried to install intel QSV support too , for this i followed the handbrake documentation page :
https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.2.0/deve ... linux.html

but appear to not work , i post problems encountered here :
https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake-docs/issues/130

Description of problem or question:
Cannot get HandBrake to enable qsv encoders on Ubuntu Server 20.04.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.3.3 (x86_64)

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log) :
nothings interesting in it with the actual problem : compile handbrake with active QSV support .

Finally i ve found a post it linked the procedure for the 1.3.X version ...
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=40831

first i remove handbrake on my system by :

Code: Select all

sudo apt remove --purge handbrake
then follow exact procedure ( git-lfs was already installed )

with this , all seems to happen as expected , even i had a end message " succes to build ", except i can't launch handbrake via the menu

ok when i launch in terminal :

Code: Select all

ghb
the handbrake window open so , i'm looking at video codecs and now i've still don't have QSV encoder on the list , but i don't have anymore VP8 , VP9 and Theora  .

not all is translate in my language ( french ) .

it seems the install procedure is wrong or miss somewhat
