Description of problem or question:
I'm not sure if it's actually a problem but my issue is it's taking a long time for me to finish an encoding. I'm running it on a Dell PE410 with 2x L5640 @2.27GHz (6-core) and utilizing all 24-core ((2x6)*2, with hyperthrading on), it's taking over 35 hrs. in avarage to encode a feature-length 4K movie. Here is an example or having an ETA of around 45 hrs.:

I'm using the default 265 10-bit encoding with the slow preset and 20RF:

Is it standrad time it should be taking on mhy H/W? Or am I missing some keey setting or some techniques?

HandBrake version:
version: 1.2.1 (x86_64)

Operating system and version:
Kernel :4.15.0-52-generic
Release: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

We'd need a full encode log to get a full picture. => https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/hel ... y-log.html

That said, L5640's are old. They have fairly low clock speeds, lack AVX instruction set and your encoding to a complex format. It's certainly not going to be fast. On a system like that, your probably better off sticking with x264

yeah, that's over a 8 yrs. old machine and that's the latest CPU that motherboard can support. So, you are saying that sort of timining is expected on that piece of h/w? How much different do you think it can make with modern CUP with AVX instruction set and stuff?

Please find the log from a previously finished encoding, whch also took similar sort of time to complete.
