Handbrake adds empty tags to MKV containers

Description of problem or question:
Whenever I encode a file using the MKV container format, Handbrake adds a number of seemingly empty tags to the file. It does not do this if I opt for the MPEG-4 format, perhaps due to limitations of the format.
I would prefer to keep my files as clean as possible, yet I have not found a way to disable the tagging behaviour. MKV Toolnix allows me to remove the tags, yet, needless to say, doing so requires a number of extra clicks, as well as additional writes to my SSD drive.
Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Encode any file using the MKV container format. It does not matter whether the h.264 or h.265 codec is used.
HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.2.2
Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Kubuntu 19.04.
