Ripping from DVD to Audio

Post by Budgie »

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible:

New to Handbrake and first post. I am ripping the DVD to a drive with Handbrake so that I can then create flac files using (probably) VLC. The DVD comprises videos of a number of musical recitals by an ensemble made over a period. I want to get each recital into a separate file. I can see the chapters and durations listed. There are many more chapters than recitals and can guess from the durations reported which chapters are breaks and which are recitals. Is it possible to set up handbrake so that groups of chapters are ripped into successive files one after the other or do I have to do it one at a time.

Tell us about your environment. What version of HandBrake? What version of Linux / Unix are you running. etc.

Running on openSUSE Leap 42.1 with handbrake from packman repo site version 0.10.5 (x86_64) (No dependency or installation instructions in 1.0.1 tarball but I have it ready to build if needed)

If there was any exception or error displayed, please copy it and paste it here:

No errors reported. I was able to rip the DVD to mp4 and thence to flac with VLC but all 15 recitals are in one file and the objective is to put each recital in separate flac file.

Please include the scan or encode log:

Here is the log. Not sure of etiquet here and max length but can put it in pastebin if too long in future.

Hi and many thanks for the link. Yes I had read this before posting but I wanted to queue each job. When I went to add second job to the queue it wanted to overwrite the first job. What I was hoping for was some automatic numbering of each destination file. Also want to understand what tagging is done if any. Sorry to be so dumb. Just feeling my way here.
Have now ditched older packman repo version and am building 1.0.1.
Thanks again.

You can autoname your files with chapter numbers in the preferences:

Pick a different file name.

Configure that in settings to suit your preferences.
