1 CPU-Thread better than more?

Post by linuxuser »

I have learned, that handbrake doesn't use mencoder. With mencoder I read, that 1 thread leads to better quality than with more threads with Multicore-CPUs. So, is it better to start handrbake 2x with a dualcore? How can 1 thread be forced with handbrake with a multicore cpu?

That's true, but the quality loss is negligible http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings#threads
And by negligible I mean nobody worries about it it is so small.

But if you insist, add "threads=1" to the advanced settings.
