One thing I noticed with 5.1 AAC support: The bitrate selector only allows you to select the bitrate based on what the bitrate for stereo channels would be.
So, when selecting 160Kbps or up, you aren't getting anything close to 160Kbps, and instead getting around 440-460Kbps. Handbrake on OS X should probably do a better job reporting what the likely bitrate will be.
