"No valid source or titles found." for certain WMV files

Post by Sir.Swaffel »

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:
Certain WMV files cannot be decoded by Handbrake 1.0.x whereas they work fine with v0.9.x. The UI gives the "No valid source or titles found." when trying to load them.

What are the steps to reproduce this problem:
Just select a particular WMV file as the source. I think the WMV must be encoded in a particular way (probably badly). The files don't have any DRM.
I can provide the video if needed. I have about 5 of them, all having this exact same problem with version 1.0.x

What version of HandBrake you are running:
1.0.2

What operating system and version and you running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):
Win10 64bit

If there was any exception or error displayed, please copy it and paste it here:
"No valid source or titles found."

Please include the scan or encode log:

Ah dammit. Terribly sorry. Don't know how I missed it when searching the forum.

That actually looks like a new issue. Can you provide a sample please?

I'm sorry but I can't seem to reproduce it today (using v1.0.2). All I get now is the standard error as discussed here: https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/issues/466

If I run into it again, I'll post back.

It's a shame; I have to work with WMV files quite often, and having to remain stuck on v0.10.5 makes me sad :(
