[fixed]Audio doesn't align with video using Direct Show

Post by PaulF »

I'm not sure what to do with this. The video and audio are only out of sync when I play it on Beyond TV. It could be a BTV problem, but it is not supported anymore. BTV uses Direct Show filter codecs and I am not sure if Direct Show is still supported either. Since you probably can not reproduce this problem, I am wondering if anyone has a guess at a work around. I am using the latest nightly because it supports h.264 CCs.

Can't help you with "Beyond TV." It was abandoned six years ago, when h264 encoding was still in its early days!

Your source is a broadcast (transport) stream. It is clear from your log that there are many, many transport stream errors and damaged frames in your source, probably from spotty reception. We call it "GIGO." Has nothing to do with DShow layer,, and even less to do with how it plays in a particular player.

Run your source through Quick stream Fix in VideoRedo BEFORE encoding. Only way to get a reasonably clean program stream from dicey OTA recordings.

It's possible that BTV doesn't handle variable framerate encoding correctly. Try setting constant framerate on the video tab.

I run a batch file after every recording. I thought I was doing constant rate, by using "-r 30" in the CLI command line. Then I read the fine print in the help. Adding "--cfr" fixed it.

Thanks.

I have been waiting for BTV to go obsolete for 6 years, like musicvid said. I always think the worst.
