[Invalid] GrassVaey HQ/HQX can't be read in nightly build 20160827-429fce1_x86_64-Win

Post by Jim_pansen »

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:
If you open GrassValley HQ or HQX in AVI or MOV container, Handbrake does mit recognized the stream.
Since codec base has been switched to libav 12 it should work.
What are the steps to reproduce this problem:
Just open HQ/HQX files.
What version of HandBrake you are running:
nightly build 20160827-429fce1_x86_64-Win
What operating system and version and you running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):
Windows 7

HandBrake does not yet use LibAV 12, so obviously won't work until we actually upgrade.

I saw a note that Handbrake (nightly build) has been switched to libav 12 alpha?

Nope. The nightly build does not have libav12. It's still 11.x

That is a different branch that's not part of the nightly builds since it's still a "work in progress". I.e the work to upgrade to libav12 is still incomplete. Once done it'll be pushed to master but there is no ETA on this yet.

Yes, it's in progress since years and it seems the developers are not much interested to make a point.
That's why I think FFmpeg gives more advantage over the time..
They are simply bringing the new stuff to life while libav team develops and develops and develops... Zzzzzzz

I meant the work to integrate it with HandBrake is incomplete.
