Log file message: Core auxiliary data reserved content is not implemented.

Post by hbUser3000 »

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:
When transcoding blu-ray movie "Aeon Flux" and selecting the DTS track as input, the log fills up with the same error, and transcode eventually aborts when log file gets too big.

What are the steps to reproduce this problem:
Loaded the .M2TS file for the above movie, selected the DTS-HD track to convert to AAC, start the job.

What version of HandBrake you are running:
Was using 0.10.5. Nightly build (04 June) installed over the top, on the first 5 minutes of the input file, exhibits the same behaviour.

What operating system and version and you running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):
Windows 10 64-bit.

If there was any exception or error displayed, please copy it and paste it here:
Log file lines, repeated endlessly. See below.

Could be being generated from this code:

Code: Select all

 1041                 avpriv_request_sample(s->avctx,
 1042                                       "Core auxiliary data reserved content");

see e.g.
https://ffmpeg.org/doxygen/2.6/dcadec_8c_source.html
i.e. FFMpeg library 2.x. Just a guess.

Can this LOC simply be removed in your project??

Please include the scan or encode log:

What are you using to rip your disk?

DVDFab Passkey 8 to unprotect the disc. Then copy the M2TS track via Windows Explorer. Ripped 70+ discs so far (for playback via PC). All M2TS files play properly through VLC. Used Handbrake to convert 40 so far to MP4/H.264/AAC, this is the only title with errors. (I could try an AC3 audio track later on.) Still would appreciate finding out the cause of this misbehaviour tho.

No, unfortunately my Sony external Blu-ray drive is not recognized by that program. Passkey + Handbrake is the only workflow I know of.

Does Handbrake 1.0 use version 3.0+ of FFMpeg libraries? I couldn't find the line-of-code above in that version via Google.

HandBrake doesn't use FFMpeg, it uses LibAV.

Can you open the Blu Ray folder, not the m2ts, and see if you get the same issue.

With a DTS-HD track, the log file has 46000 lines - the above scenario.
With an AC3 track, it has only 234 lines. Using version 0.10.5 - so I can continue to use my large queue file.

Incidentally, I now see opening the disc provides languages for the audio tracks. Nice feature.

We could remove it, but I added it to libav's DTS decoder in the first place, so I'm not sure I want to. This is really interesting, as this Blu-ray could feature the first widely-available DTS bitstream which includes such data in the subframe footer.

Basically I need to make the message print only once per stream instead of once per frame, that way it'll stop spamming the log (which is what's causing the GUI to then abort). That should fix the issue.

More importantly though, avpriv_request_sample exists for a reason, and we most definitely need a sample of this. Could you please first rip the disc to an MKV file (using MakeMKV), and then cut the first 10 to 60 seconds using Mkvtoolnix GUI, then upload the sample to Dropbox or any similar service and post/message us the link?

P.S. Is it safe to run multiple (2) instances of Handbrake simultaneously?

Yes, for certain values of "safe":

- You can start several instances
- Two GUI sessions will probably compete over the queue file (unless this has been fixed lately), as there is only one queue file. If you don't queue up encodes, they may get along.
- Two CLI sessions ought to get along just fine, as well as a CLI and GUI session

Just try it out with a few short conversions, shouldn't take much time.

Can we have it once per second? (7200 lines for a 2-hour movie.) Irritating but not fatal. Only one occurrence of this type of log msg is likely to go unnoticed.

Also I'm curious as to the content of the subframe footer data. Is it audio, or a fingerprint etc? Can you pls post when u have something to report.
