[WinGUI snv5e6b7a6 Nightly] MP4 with Variable FrameRate always!

Post by jacop89 »

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible:

The MP4 version of encoded files have the "Variable Framerate", instead i selected "Constant frame" rate and "Same As Source" (even if I specify the frame rate constant equal to the video source, in this case 23,976)

If i selected the same options, but with the MKV container, framerate change really to "Constant".

I have noticed this difference with "MediaInfo" 0.7.81 (latest version)

You can see the difference with the two Mediainfo Logs:

It looks like the wingui is neglecting to add the framerate shaping filter to it's filter settings. The framerate output for both mkv and mp4 are the same, but mediainfo is notoriously bad at detecting the actual framerate and whether it is constant or variable.

The framerate shaper was not applied for "Same as source" Now fixed. https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/ ... ad55e2fee9

It only passes in the framerate mode as arguments in this mode.

Since you haven't provided an activity log to prove it is the "exact same bug", I'll just ignore this remark (and this thread till said log is supplied).

here the log with the nightly build :
http://pastebin.com/yJVN0fnk

at the end we can see clearly that frame rate is NOT constant , but i have selected constant and the source have a constant frame rate so ...

doing this only with MP4 format selected , exactly as enonced before .

line 483 of activity log :
[18:50:11] sync: framerate min 23,810 fps, max 24,390 fps, avg 23,976 fps

and media info say the frame rate is variable on MP4 container , not in mastroska container with exactly same settings .

exactly same thing that already says in this post before me .

why don ' t you test yourself ? and tell me , this is extraordinary easy to test it ...

maybe , i ' m wrong but explain to me why please .

That's more of a quirk of how MediaInfo works and lack of understanding of how constant framerate works than an actual bug.

ok , and so why media info says about video mp4 writing by mkvmerge are constant when it are , and not for handbrake , they don ' t like handbrake team ?

be serious a little please , before posting here , i ' ve tested many time to understand and compare with other , but for me this is not really problem , i think it is more honest to inform you , after do what you want , believe me or not , it don 't will prevent me to sleep .

I'm not a professionnal , but i see that anyone can confirm that the video is really constant ...

don ' t worry, I will not come again bored you , goodbye ........

You can't have constant framerate over a 90 kHz timebase, there's always a 1-tick jitter… MediaInfo says the framerate is not constant because the container-level timestamps alternates between 90000/3753 and 90000/3754 fps; the bitstream is constant at 24000/1001 fps though. It's a non-issue, just ignore MediaInfo.

The "sync" stage of the pipeline is before the filter that adjusts framerate. This is telling you how much the framerate of your source video changes.
