Often get a botched read of media with redundant titles of the same length and endless copies of them. I have tried using both libraries (libdvdnav and libdvdread) with no change. Handbrake version is 0.10.0 x86_64 (2014112200).
What is amazing is that the program MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com) does correctly figure out repeated/redirected/fake titles. It would be desirable to have this kind of functionality in Handbrake. The MakeMKV library spits out something like:
Using direct disc access mode
Title #2 declared length is 1:43:05 while its real length is 0:51:40 - assuming fake title
Title #3 declared length is 1:43:03 while its real length is 0:51:38 - assuming fake title
Cells 13-end were skipped due to cell commands
Title #4 declared length is 1:43:03 while its real length is 0:51:38 - assuming fake title
Title #9 declared length is 1:43:03 while its real length is 0:51:38 - assuming fake title
Cells 13-end were skipped due to cell commands
Title #10 declared length is 1:43:03 while its real length is 0:51:38 - assuming fake title
Cells 13-end were skipped due to cell commands

HandBrake is not a ripper. We highly reccommend you use external ripping programs like MakeMKV for exactly the problem you are referencing.

MakeMKV also sometimes makes mistakes in selecting the correct playlist. So if a dedicated program that the developer devotes time to working on workarounds gets it wrong, what chance does Handbrake have.
Also, would you rather have the handful of Handbrake developers working on workarounds for protection schemes, or working on features that make Handbrake more awesome?
