[Fixed] 0.10RC2: drag'n'drop not working

Post by beta-tester »

hi, i just downloaded and installed HandBrake-0.10.0RC2_x86_64-Win_GUI.exe.
compared to the official 0.9.9, the drag'n'drop feature of files from a network share is not working.
i can drag, and when the cursor (with the file) is over the application, the cursor changes to accept the file to drop. if i drop the file, nothing happens.
i can successfulls drag'n'drop files from a local location, but not from a network share.

on 0.10RC2 i can open that file - that is not able to open by drag'n'drop - by using the normal "Source Selection" "File - Open a single file" option.

the network share does not have a drive letter.
the share is mapped as \\192.168.0.1\share or \\nas\share
so the file will have the foemat \\192.168.0.1\share\the_video_file.avi or \\nas\share\the_video_file.avi.
with 0.9.9 it was working well.

(windows 8.1 64bit, handbrake 0.10RC2 svn6509 64bit)

no, even with mapping to a drive letter it is not working...
strange, what is different between a network share file and a local file at drag'n'drop time in the case the share is mapped to a drive letter?

- drag'n'drop works for local file
- drag'n'drop not working for network file from \\nas\share\file
- drag'n'drop not working for network file from Z:\file, where Z: is mapped to network share \\nas\share
- source|file|open a single file works for local file
- source|file|open a single file works for network file from \\nas\share\file
- source|file|open a single file works for network file from Z:\file, where Z: is mapped to network share \\nas\share

EDIT:
??? hmmm...
even more strange... i tried a couple of files without success...
but after a while it begun to work in ALL cases...
as long the network share is mapped to a driverletter.

if networkshare is mapped to a letter e.g. Z: ... after a while...
- drag'n'drop works for local file
- drag'n'drop works for network file from \\nas\share\file
- drag'n'drop works for network file from Z:\file, where Z: is mapped to network share \\nas\share
- source|file|open a single file works for local file
- source|file|open a single file works for network file from \\nas\share\file
- source|file|open a single file works for network file from Z:\file, where Z: is mapped to network share \\nas\share

as soon i disconnect the mapped driverletter again, it stopps working immediately and the upper case appers again
(the network share is public and does not need a password and accepts every user/guests)
the strange thing is in 0.9.9 it was working in every case just from beginning... but 0.10RC2 not - it shows the different behaviour as discribed

It seems to work some of the time, but not always regardless of where the file came front.

Give https://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/6571 or later a shot. Might be a bit more reliable. IT does work with UNC it just wasn't always detecting the drop correctly.
