bluray disc type vs file type

Post by daaceking »

hello,

i have frozen blu-ray disc and i used an "appropriate software" so handbrake could read it. from the "appropriate software" i created 2 backup types. one was full disc and one was a single m2ts file with no video/audio recoding.

when i gave handbrake the task to handle the perfectly readable m2ts, the logs showed there were some level of fault [skipping frames/dropping frames etc] the fairly recent nightly i used wasn't too shabby though as a final video, however the beta produced terrible video output skipping loads of noticeable frames.

later i let handbrake access the full disc type. the only errors handbrake found were 2 duplicate frames which I think handbrake cut out. - nightly only

do disc vs file handle differently?

win 7 64 beta 0.9.9.1
nightly various last 50. 6207

Perhaps the 'appropriate software' you are using to rip the disc is not very good, and is causing errors.

Playback is childs play compared to transcoding.

unless there's a particular test you want me to do on the software, I'm ruling it out because i have performed my own tests, which it passed over various versions as updates are released.

edit - no transcoding is done by the other software as per my first post mentions
