my source video is 720x576 pal DVD
media fork encodes it to 704x384 which is wrong aspect ratio
plus selecting ipod also uses that same resolution. which is obviously wrong.
Mac, Mediafork 0.8b1
720x576 encoded at wrong aspect ratio

Re: 720x576 encoded at wrong aspect ratio
Okay, so it's PAL, but what's the film's *aspect ratio*? Without that info, there's nothing to make those output dimensions identifiable as "obviously" wrong to anyone reading here. In fact, if the film's aspect ratio is 1.85:1, those dimensions are as perfect as you can get while maintaining height and width values that divide cleanly into 16.MySchizoBuddy wrote:my source video is 720x576 pal DVD

You can find out the aspect at iMDB or Amazon, through Google, by telling us the name so we could search, whatever.MySchizoBuddy wrote:How do I find out the Films aspect ratio. I'm just stating what media fork says as source file and output file
Sorry, missed that part. Can you confirm you have the box checked for "Reset picture width to 640 when x264 (iPod) encoder is selected" in the Preferences?Btw what about the ipod settings. it shouldn't be bigger than 640x480
I encoded to ipod version and non ipod version, and they are the same 702 size
