Chapters (on iPhone)

Post by Nemesis7 »

Hi guys,

I'm using Handbrake 0.93 and it's much improved! I have a question about chapters on the iPhone. The chapters generated by Handbrake work like they should, timing is perfect. But when I want to change chapters on the iPhone, I don't see the stills/pictures on the left side of the 'Chapter Guide'. These should show (just search for 'iphone chapters' images using google). Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Also, is it possible to manually add chapters to a movie file that doesn't contain any?

Thanks guys.

P.S. I'm using the 2.2 firmware of the iPhone 3G

Just in case, here is the log:

Apple removed the stills on the chapter guide since 2.1. I'm actually glad they took it away. It took a while to load all the stills and if you get out of the chapter guide while the stills were still being generated, the video will jump to the point where it was last trying to capture the still.

Mate,

I'm glad to know this finally! Thanks for the info.

About my second question:
Also, is it possible to manually add chapters to a movie file that doesn't contain any?
Is it possible with Handbrake 0.93? If not, can someone tell me if it will be?

Not within HandBrake, but a third-party open-source tool called mp4chaps will likely offer this (at least from the CLI) in the future.
