I am currently trying to convert the movie, "The NOTEBOOK" to mp4 format, and am using DVD43, which recognizes the DVD and has supposedly removed the protection (the smiley face is green and laughing). However, when I open Handbrake, and try to read the disc, it comes back with a "No title found. Please make sure you have selected a valid, non-copy protected source." I don't know what could possibly be wrong and I checked the topic about all the DVDs that don't work and it is not listed among them....
I'm currently running Microsoft Windows XP and the latest version of Handbrake.
Please help!

Hmmm.
I had already unlocked the dvd previously using "dvdshrink". I then converted to h264 with no problems at all. Maybe you should try using "anydvd".
