*UPDATED* GUI for windows

Post by s55 »

The GUI has finally been updated to support the recently released handbarke 0.8.0b1

Code: Select all

::: Version 2.1 (handbrakeCLI.exe 0.8.0 Beta 1) :::  28/02/2007

Handbrake 0.8.0 Beta 1 CLI Changes
 * Updated libraries (meaning better quality, hopefully fewer bugs, and increased speeds)
 * iPod 5.5G support
 * Anamorphic encoding with pixel aspect ratio
 * Brighter colour reproduction in QuickTime
 * 32Khz audio output
 * Constant rate factor encoding with x264

Windows GUI Changes
 * Added: Added options for the new features in Handbrake 0.8.0b1 and b2 (b2 features are currently disabled.)
 * Broken: Video Queuing has been disabled in this release. Will re-appear in beta 2

Note: The windows GUI has been recoded from the ground up with this new version. There may be bugs. Please report these.
Note: The program will now follow handbrakes own version numbering. A Build number will be included also for the GUI.
Note: Some options such as 5.1 Sound and advanced H264 query are disabled until Handbrake 0.8.0 Beta 2 is released.
Have fun folks and feel free to post feedback.

EDIT: My project has now moved over to the offical site! Download is on the downloads page.

What file wrapper did u use to save the file? Avi, mp4 or ogm?

You should have used mp4. Default is avi. I will change this so the default is mp4 in the next build

I just updated it to fix a problem with H264 IPOD profile not working correctly.

If your using the 640 res you must use h264 (ipod)

Lock Up

Post by jose_e_cuervo »

This is concerning the Handbrake GUI you released on February 28th. (I have dial up and haven't downloaded the newest version yet)

When encoding a DVD (after the CLI pops up), if you click on the Read DVD button again and then OK, the program will lock up. I know it's not an essential function to be able to see the DVD info while encoding, but it would be nice. Either way, the program locks up and hangs for quite some time and requires a End Process.

Its not technically locked it. When the box appears saying its reading the DVD. Its watching the process in the background. Since you have 2 instances running that that point. When 1 finishes the encode will still be going and so it will sit there and continue to wait until hbcli has quit.

Maybe something i can look at resolving for a later build.

I'm usually quite sharp at fixing issues on new releases within a few days usually after someone has let me know. So if your on dialup might be an idea to wait a week after the initial release. Just incase there is any major issues that need a fix.

Should take about 18 Minutes +/- on dialup to download

Its disabled because Beta1 of Handbrake 0.8.0b1 doesn't actually support that function. Its something that will probabily released in the next version assuming no set backs.

When its released i'll re-enable the disabled options for use.

Can't download mp4 to IPOD - Told it's the wrong format

Post by fablhof »

I'm having the same problem as listed before. I downloaded the new version (2.1) today 3/4/07. I followed all the directions, H.264, format .mp4, bit rate 690 and it says that it can't be used on my IPOD because it's the wrong format.

Any ideas?

Thanks. I had the correct version. I was just being dumb by selecting h264 instead of h264 (iPod). Thanks.

Test file

Post by sidneycarton2 »

Hey sr55-- we can't thank you enough for this continually improving GUI.

In the old version I had, I could see the file being created on my Desktop as Handbrake ran, and could type 'quit' into the Dos prompt in order to watch a test clip (the first minute or so of the encoded file). Now the file no longer appears to be being saved where I ask it to (until finish I assume). Is there no way to test the clip before having it run through the whole thing?

Also-- I'm trying to rip a DVD that's 4:3 but that has a couple lines of jumpy pixels at the top of the frame. What numbers should I put in the Manual Crop section to fix this?

Thanks very much.

Firstly, I don't see why the file would not be appearing. When the encode process begins the file should appear in the location you point it to. I'll double check this later but i'm pretty sure this hasnt changed.

Probabily best use Autocrop. Its hard to say what settings to use without actually seeing the video.

Could be 2~3 lines, could be 10 off the top.

I downloaded and am trying out on a TV show I have on DVD. When I "Read DVD"

it shows on title info:

"Title 8, duration 00:45:02"

Also in DVD info:
------- DVD Information -------
Opening d:\video_ts...
+ title 8:
+ vts 4, ttn 1, cells 0->9 (849055 blocks)
+ duration: 00:42:06
+ size: 720x480, aspect: 1.78, 23.976 fps
+ autocrop: 0/0/0/0
+ chapters:
+ 1: cells 0->0, 18397 blocks, duration 00:00:49
+ 2: cells 1->1, 68203 blocks, duration 00:03:25
+ 3: cells 2->2, 230572 blocks, duration 00:11:23
+ 4: cells 3->3, 9288 blocks, duration 00:00:26
+ 5: cells 4->4, 191702 blocks, duration 00:08:41
+ 6: cells 5->5, 146877 blocks, duration 00:07:40
+ 7: cells 6->6, 77820 blocks, duration 00:04:03
+ 8: cells 7->7, 96786 blocks, duration 00:05:04
+ 9: cells 8->9, 9410 blocks, duration 00:00:35
+ audio tracks:
+ 80bd, English (AC3) (5 ch), 48000Hz, 448000bps
+ 81bd, Espanol (AC3) (2 ch), 48000Hz, 192000bps
+ subtitle tracks:
+ 20bd, English
+ 21bd, Espanol
------- Scanning Finished -------

That is only one episode? There are three on the DVD = 3 hours.

I restarted the HB just in case but get the same results,

Using a Dell inspiron with XP.

Thank you

Probabily a 0 Cell issue where handbrake is unable to read past a point on the DVD. I'm not sure which rippers can get around this on windows.

Probabily DVD Shrink but i'm not sure.

I'm locking this thread now but if you need support can you please create a new thread. Theres been a few developments in this project so i feel it best to do this.
