HB 1.4.1, can no longer output 1920x1440 (4:3) video

Post by fishtop »

Description of problem or question:

Just installed latest HB and I can no longer generate output at 1920x1440
I really want the old 4:3 format.

When HB processes the file, the top and bottom of each frame is clipped off.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

load video input file in 1920x1440
set "resolution limit" to custom, 1920x1440,
(can not set "Scaled size" to match)
"Final Dimensions:" reports 1920x1080

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

HB 1.4.1
Downloaded and installed on Aug 18, 2021

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Windows 10 Home (19043.1165)

Code: Select all

[09:53:28] + source: 1920 * 1440, crop (180/180/0/0): 1920 * 1080, scale: 1920 * 1080
Turn off cropping. HandBrake auto-crops black bars by default.

It looks like we have overlooked translation of previous custom preset settings that have auto-crop disabled. So if you have custom presets you created that disabled auto-crop, you'll need to adjust and save your custom presets.

The setting is working.
But I want to save the now modified setting as a preset.
The manual says:
quote:
"You can create your own presets by clicking the “Add” button on the preset pane. When you press save, HandBrake will use the default behaviour rules you've set and any settings from the main window just before you pressed “Add Preset”.
End quote.

I can't find an "add" button on the Preset -> Manage Preset page.
Is the button somewhere else? Or maybe there is another way to save a preset?

See the Preset section in the middle of the main window. There is a "Save New preset" window.

It will take some time for documentation to be updated for 1.4

I thought 4:3 is a 1440X1080 scenario, not 1920X1440 -- simply because that would be a 1440p encode, instead of a 1080p encode.
