Handbrake 1.4 - GUI issues, wont encode

Post by LewJo77 »

Description of problem or question:
The new 1.4.0 interface is messed up, buttons and interface elements either disappear, or appear stretched when mouse over... When i click on encode, the item in the queue flickers a few times, then fails with a note of Queue finished with 1 errors or cancellations detected.
I tried multiple time, restarts etc, and the same issue, using a preset i configured and was picked up from the 1.3.3 version which worked perfectly
screenshot of the gui issue: https://snipboard.io/ag2pK0.jpg

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.4.0 (2021071800)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 11 (22000.71)

EDIT : It was my preset! I recreated a new preset, and am able to encode now, but the GUI glitches are still there, and are terrible.... the encoding animation in the queue window, flickers constantly... most elements in the main interface have blanked out.... here is another screenshot: https://snipboard.io/IKyAYr.jpg

Edit 2 : After a few reboots, and closing HD 1.4 quite a few times, and seems to have sorted itself out... will update if the issues startup again!

Given we've not seen this kind of thing before, I'd wager it's probably related to your dock.

Devguru Twomon WDDM Display Driver - 2.0.52.0

Whatever device that is, try unplugging it and putting a monitor directly into the Nvidia GPU if the problem comes back.

Hmmm.... ok. So Twomon is actually software to run a tablet as a 3rd screen on my setup. I will uninstall that and try again.

Uninstalled the DevGurur Twomon app.... issue persists.
FYI: I have been running twomon for a couple of months now, and was working fine with HB 1.3.3 on Win10, then fresh installed Win11, HB 1.3.3 still worked fine with Twomon as well. Only since HB 1.4 install have these issues come up. I can still encode fine, just glitchy GUI. Thanks for the help!! Will read through that other topic as well. :?

Update: So, I read through the other topics, and had a look at anything that may have a driver or overlay i could think of, and uninstalled them (XBox overlay - removed all via powershell, Teamviewer, uninstalled) rebooted. Cleared out the HB logs, and opened HB without any other application open, and the GUI was glitching again. I grabbed the latest activity log:

SORTED!!!!! - Thanks for the links to the other topics.... i had Sonic Studio running (Strix Raid DLX sound card) ... closed Sonic Studio from the task tray, opened HB 1.4, and no more glitchy UI. Left HB running, and opened the Sonic Studio App... HB remains fine, but glitches if i close and re-open it.

Doubtful if Asus will release an updated version of Sonic Studio.... fingers crossed though!! 8)
