For a queue or for a single job?

For a single job, you can see a "rough" estimate of how long it'll take after you've started it in the status bar or queue window for that job.

It's not possible to guess this, or total queue time accurately so that is not provided.

Yes. The issue is Hand Break seems to be considering a "job" that particular file it's working on rather than ALL files in the que. So yes, it gives me status or an estimated time for the current file or "job", (as you say), it is rendering in the que, BUT, not the whole cue. I was in fact wondering about a job estimation for the whole cue. Why is this not possible? Or, are you saying it's just not a current or feasible option at this time in Hand Break.

Also, I noticed that the logs generated for my last batch session actually generated a separate log for every file I had in the que. Is this by design?

Thanks so much for your time.

Kind Regards,

Also, I just tried placing several files in the que. I started the que. I opened the que window. Within this window itself, there was no time estimated. Only from the main Hand Break Window does one get a time estimation at the bottom of THAT screen.

Thanks again for your time.

Handbrake's estimate of compressing a particular file is based on the average frames per second on the particular source file it is working on, compared to the estimated total number of frames in that source.

It knows NOTHING about how many frames there are in any other source file, and even less about what the compression parameters you asked for affect the number of frames it renders per second.

@ Woodstock, OK. Understood. I think my request COULD become a reality, but, Hand Break would have to open EVERY file, ahead of the one being encoded in the que, to give me that info. The development team probably does not see that as a very feasible option. One might even consider it a waste of time and system resources.

Not just open them, but begin a substantial portion of the encode to see what the actual performance is. And decode the entire source to find out how many frames it is long if you want to do it accurately.

@ mduell, This is why I am NOT a programmer. :) It all SOUNDS good. But................ we all need a REAILTY check every now and then, (I suppose).
