Post by ddsety »

Code: Select all

[16:49:11] * audio track 1
[16:49:11] + decoder: Unknown (AC3) (2.0 ch) (256 kbps) (track 1, id 0x8000bd)
[16:49:11] + bitrate: 256 kbps, samplerate: 48000 Hz
[16:49:11] + mixdown: Stereo
[16:49:11] + dither: none
[16:49:11] + encoder: AAC (libavcodec)
[16:49:11] + bitrate: 160 kbps, samplerate: 48000 Hz
Try adding an AC3 pass-through track, and testing it. AC3 has a flag available that boosts the volume, kind of like the "loudness" button on old stereos. When you convert to AAC, that audio boost isn't carried forward. That will knock 3db off the volume just in the conversion.

There is a documentation "page" with much information on using handbrake, but I do not remember if it covers this kind of detail. I remember it because it was a problem I had years ago, and I think it was Rodeo that pointed out the DRC bit on AC3. So I "almost always" include AC3 pass-through when I can.
