Default output path the same as input path - possible?

Post by pstrg »

Description of problem or question:
How to define default path as the source file's path?
Although the UI doesn't seem to indicate how to, I wonder whether there's a way (environment variable etc.) to set default output path to be the same as that of the input file.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
n.a. (it's either a question or feature request)

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.3.3

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Windows 10 20H2

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)
n.a. (not a misfunction or bug)

Code: Select all

Please replace this text with the contents of your log file between the two code tags - OR - provide a pastebin URL in place of these 3 lines.
If you are unable to do so, please state why so we can help you.

Windows, specify the path in Preferences->Output files with {source_path}

You need to be careful with this, because it CAN overwrite your source if you disregard the warnings. Make sure the output file name is not the same as the input.

@woodstock, the UI will not allow a source file overwrite.

@woodstock, thank you very much and, as @s55 said, the UI automatically renames.
