DVD Decryption, Hand Brake, and Audio Commentaries

Post by El-Gorko »

Hello,

I have a few general questions about dvd ripping. My system is built around Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition.

1. Is there any good freeware dvd decryption software that works well with HandBrake, or should I buy AnyDVD? Most freeware I've seen does not work on Vista x64 or has stopped development.

2. Is it possible to rip only the audio streams from a DVD, i.e. audio commentaries, to play on an iPod? Or should I rip the entire DVD with HandBrake and simply select the proper audio stream?

I own about 300 DVDs and find that listening to audio commentaries while working makes my cubicle tolerable. Plus, they're a lot more entertaining than listening to music on my iPod.

You get what you pay for.

1) Use AnyDVD. It works.

2) No, though it's easy enough to extract just the audio streams you want to a separate container post-rip.
