Help with video size!

Post by Youks »

Description of problem or question:

I watched some videos explaining how to use handbrake to reduce the size of videos, and from what I learned that the best numbers in “constant quality” are 25 or 26, and I noticed that the size of the video shrunk to 80%, this is in the explanation that I watched. But when I applied this to my computer, my video size did not shrink to this extent, sometimes it does not exceed 10%, and these are the settings for me:

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

See above.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

HandBrake 1.0.7 (32-bit)

( I cannot download the latest version because my computer does not support 64 bit. )

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10 Pro.

One cannot shrink videos infinitely. Although you did not post the required logs for support, it is safe to assume they have already been compressed to suboptimal levels.

Logs are much better than pictures, because logs show us what handbrake was told to do.

Sometimes, videos have already been compressed a lot, sometimes they have parts that are hard to encode. Again, that is where logs tell us things you may not be able to.

Your video is already very compressed, it probably cant be compressed any more without serious quality loss.

1280x720 at 378 Kbps is already suboptimal. Seriously. If for experimental purpose, you could cut the frame rate in half or lower the resolution to 640x360. That's about it.
