Description of problem or question:

I would like to hear from users what they basically use Handbrake for. I'm thinking that it may suggest to others new kinds of usages.
I myself was using Handbrake to add ssa sub titles to mp4 or mkv files (usually) to produce muxed output for use in Plex. This has worked well, but recently I've discovered that I can add mp4 or mkv files directly into Plex, and use Plex's ability to upload an ssa directly. My aim is to watch videos on my HD flat screen TV (40"). Is there a better way to do this?

I use it mainly because of superior decomb, scaling, and compression quality, both for home theater and streaming.

I use it to delay increasing the size of the NAS as long as possible. I have maybe 18-24 months left on the 70TB NAS (55% full right now), after filling a 28TB in 3 years. Maybe by then I can replace the current 10TB drives with 20's at a reasonable price.

This assumes I continue to resist the temptation to buy anything with HDR. That hasn't been a problem.

I'm just wondering how long it would take to view 70TB worth of movies?
Including the time it took to encode them all?
Unless Woodstock is very young, I would call that highly optimistic.

Yes, I probably won't see EVERYTHING at 70TB, but I have watched over half of the 40TB on it now. Much of it multiple times.

I'm actually LESS likely to watch MOVIES (I buy those for others to watch).

And, so far, nothing has killed Curiosity.

Why would you completely retranscode a file with HandBrake just to remux it?
