Audio settings not saving in custom preset

Post by xunil76 »

Description of problem or question:
I am having trouble getting my custom preset to save my preferred audio settings.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
I completely uninstalled the old application (0.9.9.5530), deleted all the files in my "Users" -> "AppData" -> "Roaming" -> "HandBrake" folder, deleted all references to "HandBrake" in the registry, restarted the computer, then reinstalled the new version (1.3.3 (2020061300)) using admin privileges.

After installation of the new version, I created a custom preset based off of the "H.264 MKV 1080p30" pre-installed preset, set it as the default preset, then closed HandBrake. Then I launched it again and opened my source file (MKV file ripped from blu ray disc using MakeMKV). It did correctly select the custom preset by default, and the "Dimensions", "Filter", & "Video" tabs all kept the settings I modified, but the "Audio" tab never saves the settings I configure. Every time I open a file (and it doesn't matter which file I open), the audio settings are never saved the way I set them up in the preset. And it doesn't matter how many times I set up the audio settings and select "Update Preset" (and it does give me the "The Preset has now been updated with your current settings" confirmation), it never saves the audio settings. I don't even have to open a different file for the audio settings to go away...I can simply select one of the other presets, then select my custom one again, and the audio settings are gone again.

I can follow the steps above regarding uninstalling, deleting registry entries, deleting the Roaming folder, then I re-install the old version (0.9.9.5530), and it correctly saves my audio settings with no issues. I can select a different preset, then my custom one again, and the audio settings that I configured come back the way they are supposed to.

Every version starting with HandBrake-1.0.0-x86_64-Win_GUI or newer that I have tried all exhibit this same behavior.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
Old version: 0.9.9.5530
New version: 1.3.3 (2020061300)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Windows 7 Pro

Re: Audio settings not saving in custom preset

Post by s55 »

The audio tab is not supposed to be saved. Click on the Audio Behaviours button and configure the setup that you wish. This will become part of your preset.
