NVENC encoders no longer recognized in 1.3.2

Post by seriewoordenaar »

My brand new Dell XPS 8930 has Windows 10 Home and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX-2060 (codename TU106-200A) GPU onboard using driver version 442.23. According to the Handbrake docs this should be able to use the NVENC encoders. Everything worked fine in Handbrake 1.3.1, the latest version 1.3.2 however does NOT support them - all settings in the Video menu remain greyed out.
The generic H.264/265 codecs are way too slow, so I reverted back to 3.2.1. What's going on here?

You can try the 441.12 Studio Driver for GeForce. The gaming drivers had a few kinks in other editors.

Dell Support decides which NVIDIA driver has to be updated, getting this straight from NVIDIA could cause some serious issues.
Unless some future version of Handbrake resolves the issue, I'll stick with version Handbrake 1.3.1.

If you chose the portable build, the 1.3.2 build shipped without NVENC support enabled. It will return with 1.3.3 soon.

Either use a nightly build, or an old build in the mean time.

My guess is it's that rather than a driver issue. 442 is new enough.
