Pick the NVENC encoder on the Video tab.

Thankyou for replying so quick but isn't NVENC for Nvidia cards? My card is Amd.

I am happy to give u as many logs as you like but I need to be able to start the encode first so this is why am asking about how to enable the encoding via my Gigabyte Radeon RX 5500 XT OC. Encoding via cpu is not a problem I just need to know if handbrake supports my card and if so how to I activate the feature please

Thanking you in advance

Could you please post your HB scan logs, instructions can be found here:

https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/hel ... y-log.html

Just open a file you want to encode.

i had a look and "Allow AMD VCE Encoders" was ticked but the "Allow Quicksync Encoders" was also ticked and the "Allow use of Nvidia NVENC Encoders" is greyed out.

Is this all correct or do i have to untick "Allow Quicksync Encoders" and just leave "Allow AMD VCE Encoders" ticked

Nope your fine.

If you don't see the VCE encoders showing in the video encoder dropdown on the video tab then it could simply be an incompatibility with your system. It could be related to the fact your running Windows 7. We don't formally support hardware encoding on anything other than Windows 10 however it is known to work in some instances.

Nope. Once a recent driver is installed, it should work (assuming AMD are not shipping drivers without VCE support, or broken VCE support which they have done historically)

Hi guys here is the log from my Win 10 machine , For some reason the cpu is nearly 100% but the GPU is only between 1% to 4%. So I cleared the logs and just loaded the file as advised above.
Could some one please tell me where I have gone wrong

You left off the encode portion of the log, which would say which encoder was being used.

GPU usage will always be at or near zero, because handbrake does not do GPU encoding. Even if you have VCE or QSV doing the encode, the GPU will still be negligible. The encoding hardware on video card is not part of the GPU; it's just on the same chip.

Rather, he provided a scan log rather and an encode log. Same result though.

I am. Thinking about building a new rig but want to make sure it is compatible with handbrake.

I was think about AMD Ryzen 9 3900x with a gigabyte ga-x570 Aorus Master motherboard.

Would the 3900x be a lot slower than the 3950x or is the price difference justfyable

Could you guys please offer your opinions

Not a big difference. At best maybe 30% faster if you're running multiple encodes at the same time.
