Description of problem or question:
When opening source files on the DVD, it only gives me the 3 film previews. Not the actual film. (This is for the OG NInja Turtle film on an old DVD. Not the new movie.) I've ripped thousands of DVDs and this is the first time HandBrake cannot open a movie file. What is going on here?
Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
Handbrake version 1.3.1
Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
64-Bit Windows 7

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD wont open movie file
What happens when you use actual ripping software, like MakeMKV, instead of trying to force handbrake to be something it isn't?
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD wont open movie file
From the Handbrake homepage: "HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs"
As i originally stated, i've ripped THOUSANDS of DVD films (major motion pictures) using Handbrake. So...the problem obviously isn't Handbrake.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD wont open movie file
You are ten years late to use Handbrake as a ripper. Follow @Woodstock's advice.
Maybe clean your disc too.

What you quote says NOTHING about supporting encrypted media, which is not just a codec. From the Handbrake homepage: "HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs"
Did you read the bottom of this page?
Official support for the 3rd-party library that "made it work" for "most DVDs" was withdrawn over 11 years ago, in part because it does not always work. And just about any system update nowadays will break the linkage.HandBrake also does not defeat or circumvent copy protection of any kind. It does not work with video files employing Digital Rights Management (DRM). This includes but is not limited to, copy protected content from iTunes, Amazon Video, Netflix, or other online providers, and many commercial DVD and Blu-ray discs.
Even when it does work, it does not gracefully handle flawed disks (or Bluray for that matter), as evidenced by you not noticing the part of the log that reported the read errors when trying to get a directory of the disk.
Disk ripping software has better error reporting, which would have helped you in this situation.
Tools like MakeMKV are constantly updated to deal with copy protections left untouched by libdvdcss. I know that the author of MakeMKV dedicates a lot of time to figuring out how to stay not-too-far-behind the copy protection creators.
