Subtitles are not on the black bands

Description of problem :
(I use google translate)
When I do an encoding, whatever the resolution of the image (480p - 576p - 720p ...),
the subtitles are automatically placed in the black strip of the film (the bottom one), which is normal.
I specify that I incrust the subtitles on the image.
The problem is that on certain films (my sources are Bluray), there are already embedded subtitles.
Therefore, I don't want those I add to be superimposed on those already in the film.

My problem is that when encoding in 1080p resolution, the subtitles are always placed on the image,
and not in the film's black strip (the bottom one) ... I don't understand why.
Is there a solution so that I can place my subtitles where I want (so in the black strip of the film below)?

I say that I tried the SRT and ASS / SSA markup, but it didn't change anything.

The black bars aren't part of the video, so they won't be used for subtitles. Handbrake stripped them off, and your player "put them back" for your monitor, but not as part of the display area.

If you NEED the letterboxing, you must set autocrop to OFF, and use zeros for all crop values.

I correctly set "autocrop" to 0 at its four values (Dimensions tab).
I also correctly set "autocrop" to 0 at its four values (onglet Video > Advanced options), but the result does not change.

For the moment, the only solution I have found in order to "solve" my problem and thus have the subtitles where I want it, has been to reinstall an old version of Handbrake (version 1.2.2 - 2019022300).

This is a bug that was fixed a few days ago. https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/ ... 01af2b7ec2
It's fixed in the nightly builds. https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php

It is actually triggered when there is *no* cropping or scaling. So if you don't want to help test nightly builds, you can work around it by cropping a small amount or scaling a small amount.
