My GPU burned up, now Handbrake crashes on launch

Post by karry299 »

Description of problem or question:
My GPU burned up, so i switched to an integrated IntelHD2000 (Intel i5-3470) for the moment. And Handbrake refuses to launch. Just crashes before even loading the GUI. Any version you can name. Newest, old ones i had, "safe" version. None of them work.

The activity log is literally just this one line :

Code: Select all

Cannot load nvEncodeAPI64.dll
Does Handbrake REQUIRE a discrete GPU ? Because that seems...really stupid...i also dont see a discrete GPU being in the Handbrake system requirement.

You OS probably still thinks your GPU is still attached or something.

The error message above is irrelevant. It says it on all non nivida systems.

Did you clear the log file before loading the GUI as I'd suspect that's an old log if it's crashing on startup.

Boot windows into Safe mode, and try again. If that works, it's the interaction with something on your system that's probably causing a problem.
