Help with Subtitles

Post by thomhehl » Mon Oct 14, 2019 12:18 pm

I skipped the activity log, because this isn't really a problem report but a question as to how to proceed.

I just bought a copy of Cyrano(1990). I guess I haven't copied a foreign language DVD yet. I read the help section on subtitles and I feel it needs work, so I'm here.

When I go to the subtitles tab I see 4 entries:
1) Foreign audio scan
2) I think this is Mandarin
3) English (4.3) VOSUB
4) English Closed Caption

I am an English speaker and want to watch it with English subtitles. I selected 4 because I thought it would be nice to be able to turn them off and on. I ripped the disk and hit the subtitle and it comes up "Chapter 2".

Did I do something wrong? How shall I do this?

Thanks.

This is DEFINITELY where we need logs. We need to know what handbrake saw and what you asked to do.

Closed Captions tracks are not regular subtitle tracks.

Mmmyea, I see where you didn't actually read "How-to get an activity log? for details on how and why this should be provided."
