Best settings for encoding 16mm film?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the 'best' settings to encode 16mm film?

I have some 16mm film files that are a little 'blocky', that I would like to unblock a little, but not to the point of making the video blurry.

Win 7, HB 1.2.2 Videos viewed on a 23" HDMI widescreen computer monitor

Normally I use the following for 35mm DVD's and Blu-Rays:

Picture Tab:automatic(whatever the source is)

Filters Tab:Detelecine Default, Deinterlace Decomb Default Default,
Denoice off, Deblock off

Video Tab:Video Codec H.264, Framerate same as source, Encoder Preset Slow,
Encoder Tune none, Encoder Profile High, Encoder Level 4.1, Avg Bitrate kbps(whatever will
give me about the same size file as the original file)

Audio Tab:Passthru whatever the source is.

I've tried the following:

1) Same as above, but using Deblock of 5...video was too 'soft', blurry.

2) Same as above(deblock back to off), Encoder tune to 'film'...video was slightly softer than original file, but not as soft as when using deblock 5.

So, IMHO, this one looked slightly better than the original file-slightly softer, but less blocky(yes, I know that's subjective). The image was improved slightly by increasing my Nvidia Edge Enhancement and Noise Reduction controls.

Is there anything else(other settings?) that I can experiment with to further improve the picture quality?

Increasing the Encoder Preset from Slow to any slower settings should not make a difference as the original file is 'blocky' to begin with.

Would changing the PAR settings, or changing the pixel shape...round to square, or square to round make a difference?

Thanks!

Please post MediaInfo for you capture source, or your encode log, and someone may be able to suggest some starting points.

As this is a generic question for 16mm source material, I don't have any MediaInfo, or encode log

You do, or you could. See the bold underlined text on the pink background at the top of the page.

Digitized 16mm source material is very non-homogeneous.

.
There is no such thing.
It has been CAPTURED by any of a hundred means you have never heard of.
Won't ask a second time.

The nightly build has a different deblock filter that might work better.

It would be good to see the activity log so we can make appropriate suggestions.
