Handbrake stops responding while doing initial scan - 20% CPU Usage:




Use AnyDVD to allow Copy of DVD - Start Handbrake - and select the moving in the DVD Drive

I use AnyDVD & Handbrake all the time to make backup copies of my DVDs. Great combination.
However, on this DVD "The Internship" - when I load handbrake - and then choose the movie on the left hand side of handbrake - it immediately jumps to 25 titles 50% - and then freezes. It sits there chewing up about 25% of the CPU forever.

It did the same thing in the previous version of Handbrake I was using (Upgraded this morning to test the newest version - but no change).

I use handbrake on a weekly basis - so I know it works with many other DVDs.

I am running Windows 10 PRo - on a Xeon processor machine with 32 GB of ram.

The log is attached - and I am hoping that someone can give me a hint as to what I might have to do to get this to work??

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Looks like AnyDVD isn't fully repairing your source file. Maybe try MakeMKV instead.

S55 - ok - makeMKV worked - but I still used AnyDVD to process the disk (I think).

The only thing I have to do now is turn off sub-titles

MakeMKV doesn't need AnyDVD.

Turning off subtitles in handbrake is easy enough, just remove the tracks under the subtitle tab. You can even set a default behavior to not include any subtitles. If your target is MP4, though, you may want to include an empty subtitle track to "hide" the chapter track from most players.

I create the empty track by telling handbrake to include the main subtitle track, but ONLY include the ones marked as "forced". That will create an empty track for "virtually all" sources, as few use the "forced" flag.
