Hi guys and gals!

I use Handbrake for about a year now, first on an old but reliable i5 and now on my new AMD. I did nothing wrong in my opinion! Handbrake was working great until a few days ago. "Handbraking" my small video files from 30 gb to less than a gb, I was so happy...but now...every time I try to
run Handbrake it randomly freezes my system. Totally random with no Bugscreen or Bluescreen or such things. Just freezes...

...before you ask:
yes, I'm using Afterburner and it never was a problem for Handbrake so far!
No, my slow RAM works perfect and has no damage (it took hours to check that).
No, temperatures of the CPU and stuff are very moderate. Thx for asking.
No, my .dlls are fine and within parameters of Microsoft.
No, my disks have no damage at all, it's only one disk actually, NO SSD because SSDs are made by the devil!
Yes, Ccleaner I did use and it deleted "unnecessary" thingies...and passwords *facepalm*

Thx in advance for your help!

friendship my comrades, sleeping82

* newest is a 104 gb videofile from good old fraps I would like to convert to a mp4 so I could work with it in DaVinci Resolve...
** buy a PC for 1400 bucks and wait for bugs and misbehaving of software is the first step to reproduce my problem

If Windows is freezing, then you either have a Hardware or Kernel level issue (typically bad drivers, if not hardware).
Since HandBrake runs in user-space, any crash that occurs would be recoverable by the app or operating system, not resulting in a system freeze.

As far as hardware, memtest86 if you've not already. Power-supplies are trickier to test if it's unstable power (voltages sometimes give an indication)
Drivers, nice easy one, make sure all are up-to-date.

Memory is ok, drivers are all up to date because: I reinstalled Windows 10 today and made everything new as possible ^^

I did stresstests and benchmarks, everything runs...my PC only freezes when I use Handbrake...or ShotCut...or DaVinci Resolve...or any FFMpgeg-GUI :(

PC really just freezes when he should make a videofile, everything besides that works properly (and really good on an Ryzen 5 2600X ^^)

Wasn't there an issue with Ryzen processors and Windows 10 early on, which required a BIOS patch on many motherboards?

I also found a message on one of the AMD support boards (first hit for "ryzen locking up" on google) about lockups attributed to under-powered power supplies, and recommending a MINIMUM of 750W continuous, more if your video card was particularly hungry.

yes, my PC needed a new BIOS because of new CPU on older Board, one can't install a R5 2600X on a X370-board without BIOS-update...but that was easily done (not by me...I got the PC from a speciality retailer for many many €)

Power Supply is another thing, I orininally planned with a 750w because of possible future crossbreaking 2 graphics cards but then I thinked about it...my system as it is needs ~350w so I got only a 550w because one should utilize its power supply to around 60-70% <- in my case that means a silent power supply, properly cooled :)

I'm also active in the "official" german Windows-forum, these people got me drivers and stuff...they also think it's the power-supply...or the HDD...the latter I had to strongly dismiss...it's a Seagate FireCuda Hybrid-SSHD with a "special" partition for TEMP and SWAP for gods sake, no one shall insult my SSHD, it's not fragmented at all and brand new and stuff and it's the fastest HDD in the whole universe *safeguarding it with my life*

Problem solved, it was a mainboard-issue
