DVD will only encode to near the end of the first chapter

Post by eggcident »

Description of problem or question:

DVD will only encode to near the end of the first chapter (15 minutes long) to 14:38. DVD is over an hour long.
Ripping it via MakeMKV didn't work either (as it didn't finish), as I figured it had something to do with it being encrypted.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Encode said DVD.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.2.1 (btw the registration answer for the current version has not been update).

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10 Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590)

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Log from when I inserted DVD (I guess I got two different logs because of the time in between?)

If makemkv can’t read it your disc may have errors.

Try cleaning it and re-ripping.

As stated, if MakeMKV came up with read errors, cleaning is your first option. MakeMKV removes the encryption, but it cannot deal with a disk your drive cannot read. You should read this on the MakeMKV forum: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!.

Thanks for taking a look. I'm going to take a look at MakeMKV logs, but I think you guys are right - disk is bad. I can watch the video just fine, just no luck ripping. I'll update when I know more.
