Blu Ray file shrinking

Post by Francois »

Description of problem or question:

I downloaded HandBrake because I want to get a 34 GB m2ts file under 25 GB MKV to burn it on a Blu Ray disc. So far I succeed. What I am missing when moving the quality is an indication of the expected file size. With the default settings I get an 11 GB file from 34 GB. Can I just try to reach the file size of 24 GB for example or is there a hidden setting?
Thank you for your prompt answer, KOOS Fr. Luxembourg

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.2.0 (2018121700)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Win 10 64 bit

You cannot set a size within handbrake. You can compute what bit rate you need to reach that size for a particular source (search for "bit rate calculator" for online calculators), then tell handbrake to encode to that maximum bit rate, but the quality will vary inversely with the complexity of the video when you do that.
