What version of Handbrake for Windows Home Server V1

I have an old HP Mediasmart EX490 server running Windows Home Server V1.

I have downloaded several older 32bit versions of Handbrake that I thought would work (1.0.2 and 1.0.7) but none of them have worked so far. Can anyone advise me about the most recent version of Handbrake that will run on this old hardware?

Thanks.

Nope, they won't be compatible.

It's probably equivalent to Windows XP which means you need to go back further to 0.9.9 or even 0.9.8

Goes without saying, there are no support for these releases and we didn't do patch releases back then so you'll be stuck with the slew of bugs that that release may have had. (for clarification, 0.9.9 was a major release, not a patch release. We didn't use semantic versioning back then)

Thanks very much. I'll give those older versions a try.

I would suggest you use other hardware for encoding, and leave file serving to the HP.

Decent 64bit hardware running either a 64 bit Windows or Linux system is inexpensive enough in today's market. You then won't be limited to what the old, 32-bit versions of handbrake supported.
