Batch Scan not scanning all files in folder?

Post by Forrteroi »

Description of problem or question:

I have a folder which contains 193 .mp4 files. When I click "Batch Scan" and select the folder, it says "Scanning title x/193 (x %). I notice it skips over files, like it will be scanning title 3 then it goes onto title 5 (for instance). Then after it gets to number 193, it will show the same "Scanning title X" message, but will say "Scanning title x/167.

Another interesting thing to note is that I tried individually clicking each video file in the folder, and clicking "add to queue" for each one. When I pressed "Start Encode", the end result was 168 files. I might have missed a few, but I was very methodical and doubt that was a coincidence.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason towards which files are skipped. Nothing to do with names, or file sizes. They are all in the same format, and the only thing that varies between them is the title, the bitrate, and the framerate. They were recorded with NVIDIA Shadowplay.

I have tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling Handbrake, saving to different locations, running as Administrator, and changing the encoder settings, all to no avail.

I am getting the files from an external HDD (E:/) and saving them to my Hard Drive. I have encoded other files using this method, and it worked fine.

The attached activity log is from the Handbrake that is currently running. It takes a few days for all the files to be encoded, but this should be useful(ish).

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

I don't know.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

HandBrake 1.1.2 (2018090500) - 64bit

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.17134.0 - 64bit

Post by BradleyS »

Go into the options and set minimum title length to 0 (zero) seconds. We hope to improve this behavior for folders of files in the future; see https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/issues/1590

If the issue persists, you could also try the nightly build which has improved decoding for some media formats that might be flaky in 1.1.x.
