1080i to 1080p encode

Post by kachijs »

Description of problem or question:
Is it possible to encode 1080i/60 to 1080p (deinterlaced)? I have no problem doing this to 720p with yadif deinterlacer, but trying 1080p leaves video interlaced.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.1.1

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 10

Post your encoding log from an attempt at 1080p that you claim left it interlaced.

According to the log, the decomb and deinterlace filters were not turned on for this encode. The combing detection found interlaced video, but nothing was active to remove it.

I have set Deinterlace filter - do i have to set something else besides filter? I do the same for 720p and it deinterlaces the video...

Set: Detelecine: Default, Deinterlace: Default, Preset: Default, Interlace Detection: Default, Denoise: Off, Sharpen: Off, Deblock: Off
Set the filters tabs as I specified and leave them alone. If there are no combing artefacts the filters do nothing. If there are - they work wonderfully.
