No H.265 (Intel QSV) on 8600K

Post by stevvie »

I just installed new mobo/CPU and dont see an option for H.265 (Intel QSV). I do see the option for H.264 (Intel QSV).
I'm on windows 10 with an 8600K with intel 24.20.100.6195 GPU drivers, and handbreak nightly 2018070401. Can anybody point me in the right direction for the GPU drivers that have this, thanks.

Any scan log should contain useful information, see https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.1.0/help ... y-log.html

The forum should tell people about that before they post.

Here's the scan log. I never started a conversion as my problem is before you need to click 'start encode'.

You need to enable the onboard GPU in the bios if you wish to use QuickSync.
You may also want to make sure your running the latest Intel Drivers.

I am and I am, I also went so far as to do what you used to have to do and plugged a monitor into the onboard graphics hdmi and selected it as the primary display in windows. There are post here that say older drivers are better for handbrake but don't say which older drivers. As you can see from the screenshot I can select H.264 (Intel QSV) but do NOT see the option for H.265 (Intel QSV) that others seem to have.

OK fixed it for anybody else looking into this. I had the latest drivers like Handbrake team suggested, which at the time were 24.20.100.6136. I searched google for instel HD630 drivers 23, And the first ones that i downloaded where 23.20.16.4927 and they work for my 8600k.

Hmm, I think you managed to select one of the drivers that were known to cause intermittent and random crashes / encode failures with HandBrake.

Anything below 4982 isn't recommended.

The log above, Windows is actually reporting the onboard GPU is turned off, so there is something a bit broken on your system if it is infact working. Probably a Windows reporting issue so not worth worrying about.
