Compressing an .mp4 video from Powerpoint 2016

Description of problem or question:
I create an .mp4 video of a 2016 powerpoint slideshow using "save as" in poweroint. The result appears to be flawless. When I attempt to compress it using Handbrake, just before a new slide appears, the slide flashes on the screen for, perhaps, 1/10 of a second, and then the existing slide returns for about the same length of time, after which the new slide comes back and everything proceeds well until the next slide change when the same thing happens. I've tried a variety of presets without success.



Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
The behavior happens with some regularity. Sometimes the preset fast 1080p30 works well until later slide changes; fast 480p30 fails on every slide change.
